Autex History
The Autex Group is a wholly New Zealand owned organisation, having been established by its founding directors in 1967. Commencing business as a manufacturer of jute-based carpet underfelts and specialty backings for vinyl flooring products, Autex then established a new plant to produce polypropylene needlepunched carpets.
Products developed during these establishment years of the late '60s and early '70s included the very successful needlepunch do-it-yourself carpet tile.
Utilising its strong textile engineering skills base, the company was able to adapt and develop new manufacturing techniques and products suited specifically for the New Zealand and growing export markets.
The Group has expanded its activities into new high-tech areas of business and is now a market leader in a number of specialised sectors.
As the predominant non-wovens manufacturer in New Zealand and a major player in the Australian market, Autex has grown its market share through a process of innovative development, niche marketing and careful strategic planning.
The manufacturing plants operated by the Group are all equipped with the latest high-production machinery and systems.
This approach of keeping up to date with technology enables the company to produce a diverse range of products at internationally competitive rates.
As a verification of its commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, Autex Industries Ltd targeted certification to the International Quality Manager System Standard - ISO9001, a goal it achieved in 1997 and has maintained since then to the benefit of both the company and its customers.
