Bonded Waddings

Autex is Australasia’s largest processer of polyester fibre, specialising in the production of waddings using the latest thermal bonding processes. Our bonded waddings are made from polyester and polyester blended with wool fibre, for use in furniture and bedding products. Many of our waddings are custom-manufactured to specific customer or industry standards.

Benefits of thermal bonding

Thermal bonding processes are a far more effective and environmentally-friendly alternative to chemical bonding. The application of heat results in the direct welding together of fibres, making thermally bonded waddings more durable.

The absence of harsh chemical binders also helps retain the softness and loft of the fibre. The resulting wadding has a uniform cross-section without top and bottom ‘crusts’ typical of spray-bonded wadding.
